Art Therapist, Bright Lights studio/Kutenai Art Therapy Open Studio [September 2018 - September 2019] - Facilitated a hugely successful twice-weekly Art Therapy group for participants who are homeless, living in shelters or otherwise marginalised at Salvation Army. Multi agency working. Evaluated the project and supported future funding bids. - Offered a Saturday open studio for families with a weekly project I developed weekly.
Private practise, heART space, face to face and online courses/retreats at www.kateleppard.com [September 2015 - Current] - Designed, facilitated, marketed and evaluated online courses: The heART Call (An intro to art therapy) and heART to heART (an international art conversation project). - Grew and developed a Facebook community called heART space with over 1000 members, where I share a creative project each month that offers insight and reflection. - One to one art therapy in Nelson and online. Practicum Placements [September 2013 – April 2015] McKim Cottage, Women’s Art Therapy Group, Clubhouse, Bigby Artists, Selkirk Transitional Training Program, Child/Adolescent Individual Art Therapy - Designed and facilitated a weekly Art Therapy group in a Crisis/Stabilization residential treatment center for adults with mental illness. - Designed, co-facilitated and evaluated a 2-hour weekly insight orientated women’s art therapy group conducting intake assessments, goal-setting, and catering to the needs of each individual, with the goal of integration and change. - Co-facilitated a 2-hour weekly art therapy open studio for adults with mental illness. - Co-facilitated a weekly Art group for adults with developmental disabilities. - Conducted research for my graduate major project, “Art Therapy Activities for Adults who are Differently-Abled”. - Worked one-on-one provided Art Therapy for individual clients. - Conducted intake assessments with clients and parents, set goals and evaluated progress. Land-based Learning Apprenticeship [August 2010-August 11] Embercombe (UK) - Designed, facilitated and evaluated education programs for 4-18 year olds and adults (ranging from 2 hour workshops to 6 day residential programs) based on nature awareness; growing vegetables; fire making, shelter building, water,craft and foraging; interactive theatre and art making. - Implemented a successful marketing campaign through designing and producing a leaflet, writing a monthly education blog and attending events to promote educational work. - Inducted, supported, trained and managed volunteers.
Art Teacher and Learning Mentor [September-December 2008] Kensington and Chelsea Pupil Support Service (UK) - Taught art to 11-16 year olds with emotional behavioral difficulties and young offenders with constant liaison with relevant staff members.
Education Project Officer [July 2006-December 2007] FBA and Mall Galleries (UK) - Developed, managed, taught and evaluated the UCre8 program in North London, aimed at disadvantaged 5-18 year olds, to promote creativity and personal expression through art culminating in an art show and the Primary Schools Program.
