Pausing Time and Capturing Moments with Wendy Knight
This month in heart space, I encourage you to notice, to pause and to attend to your self care. It can take only a tiny bit of intention and even less effort to aim for awareness of this part of our lives. Just setting the intention that we will do one small thing for ourselves each day may be all it takes to form a habit. Let's aim to make self care a habit for ourselves and perhaps this will become a life long part of our lives.
Setting an intention can be as simple as making a decision, thinking it or speaking it out loud. There are many ways to do this. What about asking yourself each morning "how am I going to love myself today" or "how am I going to show or give myself love today" alongside "what do I need" "what do I need in this moment" my favourite question to ask myself.
Let's use this space, heart space, to track our favourite means of self care, to gather ideas to share between us and to inspire one another to value ourselves enough to give a little bit of our own energy to ourselves. In our demanding lives, to give has become a way of being, and we may often forget to nourish ourselves.
Let's stop aiming for more productivity, more exhaustion, overextending ourselves as if that somehow defines success and worthiness. Let's instead, together, aim for health and inner fulfilment and peace.
This month I invite you to set the intention each day, perhaps in the morning to do one at least small act of self care. Do what you love, whatever that may be. Then, through the power of photography, track and share what you do for self care.
Everyone seems to have some kind of device or phone with them all the time. This month, let's use this device for art making! Photography is art that can take only a few seconds to create. We often snap a picture without realizing the art we are creating. We may post on social media and share with others without acknowledging the art that is being created. Let's take a moment to pause and notice.
Through this process, we can create a bank of ideas and support each other and keep ourselves accountable, all while promoting self care as not a luxury but as a necessity. When life feels full take at least a moment for yourself. Inspire yourself and inspire each other.
